  • The Center for Spiritual Development is pleased to present an evening lecture and Saturday workshop with best-selling author and Franciscan priest Fr. Richard Rohr. In the lecture Fr. Rohr leads us through lecture and guided meditation designed to help participants integrate their very active lives with an inner core that is "hidden with Christ in God." The lecture is on Friday, September 12th, from 7:30 pm - 9:00 pm at Trinity Episcopal Cathedral located at 147 NW 19th Avenue and the cost is $25 general, $5 students; and the workshop is on Saturday, September 13th, from 9:00 am - 3:00 pm at Trinity Cathedral (Kempton Hall) and the cost is $50 general, $15 students (lunch included). Please pick-up details on the workshop and biography on Fr. Richard Rohr on the table in the Narthex.
  • The 21st Annual Transformations Prayer Retreat is being held on September 21st - September 26th at Suttle Lake Camp located at 29551 Suttle Lake Road, Sisters, OR 97759. This retreat is designed to provide a relaxed and worshipful atmosphere punctuated by the rhythm of daily sacrament, prayer, meditation and evening programs. Using various scriptures, the retreat will focus on God's restorative Grace that embraces us in Sabbath. The registration cost is $280. You may download forms at www.gocamping.org.   • Annual Church Picnic! The annual church picnic is on Sunday, September 7th, at Rose City Park, northwest corner of the park, (behind the ball field), from 12:30 - 2:30. Bring a lawn chair, a dish to share, a softball glove or just a cheer! Hope to see you there. If you have any questions, please contact Marchelle Watson at 503-289-3798.
  • Faith Links/Social Principles is a study for use by groups who want to apply their United Methodist beliefs to current faith issues and world events. This group begins Sunday, September 7th, in the parlor. It runs for 12 weeks.
  • Faces on Faith Video Series! This series has leading religious and secular thinkers who respond to age-old questions on beliefs and their meanings. Each tape focuses on a leaders questions and illuminating thoughts and makes for a powerful study into faith which moves people into action in their own lives. The series begins on Wednesday, September 10th, at 7:00 pm, in the parlor. It runs for 12 weeks.
  • Invitation to Psalms by Michael Jinkins! Protestant Reformer, John Calvin, called the Psalms "Anatomy of all the Parts of the Soul". This discussion will invite you to engage the Psalms at the deepest levels of your heart. Please refer to the Apostolate for the chapters that will be covered. This group begins Thursday, September 11th, at 7:00 pm in the parlor. It runs for 10 weeks.
  • Liberia presentation! Our Liberia UMVIM Team, Beverly Walker and Linda Hurley, will share their experience on Sunday, September 14th, at 12:30 in the parlor. This is also a potluck so please bring one of your favorite dishes to share.
  • Youth Mission Trip - Sierra Service Project presentation! There will be a presentation given by the youth and leaders who experienced the mission trip to Tijuana, Mexico. The presentation and potluck is on Sunday, September 28th, following the 11:00 worship service in Youngson Hall. As well as the presentation and potluck the youth will be leading both worship services on this special day.
  • Concert by Ernesto Quilban, internationally acclaimed classical guitarist, with special guest performers Roidel Flores playing the violin and George Gaerlan on congas! This event is on Sunday, September 28th at 3:30, at Rose City Park UMC. There will be a freewill offering during intermission.

  • The next "Grief Group Monthly Discussion/Potluck" will be this Friday, August 22nd, at 6:30 pm, at the home of JoAnn Schilling, located at 1916 NE 90th Ave., Portland. Newcomers are always welcome!

  • Please check out the Art Camp bulletin board in the Narthex. Our theme this year is "Galactic Faith: Faith As Big As The Universe". You can pick up a registration form and take a supply card to help us stay in our budget.
  • Come and enjoy worship in God's glorious outdoors! On July 20th at 10:00 am worship service will be held in the parking lot across the street from the church (chairs will be provided). "The Lord God Made Them All" is this year's theme for the outdoor celebration incorporating a time for a special blessing: a blessing of the animals. You may even bring your pet - on a leash or in a carrier/cage and Pastor Tom Tate will offer a blessing on these special creations of God. With the Celebration Singers (choir), Praise Band, and lots of music, we will make that joyful noise to the neighborhood. There will be a hamburger/hotdog barbeque provided by the congregation.
  • Life Line Screening will be at RCP on Wednesday, August 20, 2008.
