At Rose City Park, all music – whether it be traditional, gospel, spiritual, or praise – is integral to the celebration of God’s love and reconciliation we have each Sunday morning. In the hymns and special music that are chosen for each service, much thought is given to choosing those songs that support the sermon and the time of year – whether it is a holiday or a change of seasons. It is hoped that all “feel God’s presence” with the help of music at Rose City Park each Sunday morning.
Grace Notes rehearses every Thursday from 7:00 – 8:30 p.m. and participates in the 11:00 a.m. worship service. The choir is open to any adult who has an ability and desire to sing and to participate in the ministry that is both given and received by their participation in choir. No prior singing or musical experience is necessary – just the ability to carry a tune and have fun! Styles of music learned range from traditional and contemporary to American spirituals. Contact John Green through the church office.
Cloud Nine, our praise band and singers, rehearses every Wednesday from 8:00 – 9:00 p.m. The group is the musical leadership in our 9:00 a.m. worship service on Sundays. Anyone interested in being part of this group should get in touch with our Praise Band Leader, Dan Pettis.
If instrumental music is more your forte, we have opportunities there as well. The Rose City Brass Ensemble shares in worship, and as entertainment for special events. Several members of the ensemble are also part of the praise band. Frank Holman is the director.
The Wesley Ringers is a three-octave hand bell ensemble that rehearses Wednesday evenings from 7:00 – 8:00 p.m. If you read music and would like to be a part of this ensemble, contact the director, Jennifer O’Leary, through the church office. The bells play in worship at the 11 am service.
Music, that God-given gift, is richly expressed in Christian worship. Please know that we welcome your participation at Rose City Park UMC.
