mborg52_2003_CU_arms_raised.jpg.jpegUntil his retirement in 2007, Dr. Borg, held the postion of the Hundere Distinguished Professor of Religion and Culture at Oregon State University.  He is internationally known for his work on the historical Jesus and the developing Christian tradition.  He is the author of many best selling books including "Meeting Jesus Again for the First Time," "Reading the Bible again for the First Time,"  "The Heart of Christianity," and "Jesus: Uncovering the Life, Teachings and Relevance of a Religious Revolutionary."


He has co-authored three books with John Dominic Crossan, " The Last Week," 'The First Christmas," "The First Paul."

Described by the New York Times as "a leading figure in his generation of Jesus Scholars," he has appeared on NBC's "Today Show," and "Dateline," PBS's "Newshour, " ABC's Evening News and Primetime" with Peter Jennings,  NPR's "Fresh Air," with Terry Gross, and several National Geographic Programs.

Dr. Borg's doctoral degree is from Oxford University.  His work has been translated into eleven languages and he has lectured widely overseas in England, Scotland, Austria, Germany, Belgium, Hungary, Israel, and South America.  In the U.S. he has also lectured at Chautaugua and Smithsonian Institutions.

Rose City Park United Methodist Church is delighted to present An Evening with Dr. Marcus Borg, Thursday, October 8.

In preparation for his coming, Rose City Park's Pastor, Tom Tate, will be leading a class beginning in September, on Dr. Borg's book, "The Heart of Christianity."
