Service to our community is an integral part of what defines Rose City Park United Methodist Church. We take it seriously, do it joyfully and are always on the lookout for ways to better serve our community. Our goal is to be the best church FOR our community!
Ongoing Service/Mission Opportunities
Backpack Lunch Program
Did you know that many of the children in our immediate community are on free or subsidized lunches? What that means is that when the weekend comes, there isn’t enough food at home to go around. The Backpack Lunch Program provides food for the weekend for students in need. The children of Rose City Park UMC have decided to take the money that they collect in their offering every Sunday, as well as the money that is donated through Noisy Offerings on 5th Sundays and other generous donations and give that to the Backpack Lunch Program. The children go on a shopping excursion and purchase foods that are then given to the program, put in backpacks and discreetly given to the kids in need. Would you like to help? You can make a donation to this incredible cause by sending a check to the church marking “Backpack Program” on the memo line. We will make sure it is included in the next shopping adventure!
UMCOR (United Methodist Committee on Relief)
Unfortunately, disasters strike far more often than we would like. UMCOR (The United Methodist Committee on Relief) is often times the first ones on the ground, helping to provide basic needs to those whose lives, in a moment, have been forever changed. UMCOR is one of the few organizations that can say that 100% of your donations towards disaster relief goes directly to disaster relief. ALL administrative costs are covered through a once a year offering called One Great Hour of Sharing. When disaster strikes and you want to help, but just don’t know what to do, consider donating through UMCOR. All you need to do is write a check to the church with “disaster relief” on the memo line and we will take care of the rest…making sure that the money is sent on to UMCOR. Remember, 100% of your donations go to the disaster in which you are wanting to donate to!
